Forbes of Kingennie - 28/29 June 2009

Following on the tradition started two years ago, June sees our annual tribute to the spit-roast at Forbes of Kingennie.  For those of us who were together at this event last year I am sure you will want to repeat the adventure - but let's hope for less rain this year!!   Details will be available soon, but please put the dates in your diary as this is an event not to be missed.

Two young chefs travelled to London to take part in the National competition to find the Young Commis Chef 2009.    Thomas Helyer from the kitchen at Kinnaird House in Perthshire took first prize and Craig McCarron from the kitchen at La Bonne Auberge was awarded 3rd place.  This is a great tribute to the professional kitchens where they are currently training under the stewardship of Executive Chef Jean Baptiste Bady (Kinnaird) and Executive Chef Gerry Sharkey (La Bonne Auberge).  Thomas will now travel to New York at the end of September to take part in the International competition.  What a fantastic result and well done to them!!
